Word from the President and Chairman of the Board

More than 25 years have passed since Amities Quebec-Israel (Quebec-Israel Friendships) was founded (24-07-1976) through the initiative of young Quebecois, during the quiet revolution, wanting to rediscover Israel and its people in the hope of drawing an inspiration of faith, love, and determination, in order to serve and to further the recognition and the dissemination of the Quebec cause on the Canadian and international scene.

In creating this official website of Amities Quebec-Israel, the current Board of directors hopes to unwaveringly uphold the ideals for which our association was founded, namely to enable a better comprehension of Israel by the population of Quebec, to quash anti-Semitism as well as misinformation pertaining to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, to encourage the establishment of bonds with Israel and, at the same time, to open a window on Israel and the Jewish community in general.

We have always found that the best way to attain our objectives was to engage in a wide variety of diverse activities, tailored to parallel the different natures of our audiences: professionals, writers, journalists, politicians, trade unionists and students. We have thus, since our inception, completed many projects: trips, conferences, information services, etc.

Quebec is the national homeland of more than 20 million Franco-Americans and the welcoming destination to more than 100 000 citizens of Jewish origin. And as American francophones, we must show support and be sensitive to the war that Israel is waging for its survival.

That is why we cordially invite every man and woman wishing to fight anti-Semitism and misinformation in our society to enrich our site with his or her ideas.
