CRIMINAL USE OF CHILDREN

The International press was not particularly interested in the story of this Palestinian youth sent by Fatah men with an explosive belt around his body to blow himself up at an Israeli road block (March 24, 2004).

The press was also not very interested in the story of the 11-year old with a bag full of explosives (March 15, 2004).

The media don't try to find out more about these stories because they don't fit with their aim to present Israel as the agressor.

Some journalists also fear reprisals from Palestinians if they give out this information.

Yet, Palestinian terrorist organisations are not satisfied with killing Israeli children. They don't hesitate to send their own kids to their death.

Since the begining of the second intifada, 29 suicide attacks were perpetrated by minors. Since January 2004, more than 40 Palestinian minors have been arrested because they were involved in suicide-attack attempts. Twenty two others were arrested for throwing bombs, or firing on soldiers. And let's not forget the horrific use of childred as human shields. Western media don't report this situation. Instead, the prefer to accuse Israeli soldiers of killing or wounding children.

What about human rights? The UN's Declaration of the Rights of Children of November 22, 1959 states that "Humanity must give the child the best of itself", and in Principle 9, it declares that "the child must be protected from any form of negligence, cruelty and exploitation and must not be submitted to trade of any form.".

The consequence of such acts by the Palestinians will be the even stricter search of Palestinian children at check points. That will surely cause a unanimous international blame upon Israel. Ambulances will also have to be checked more thoroughly. Terrorists organisations have used them to transport explosives. On May 17, 2002, an explosive belt was discovered under a bed where a sick child was lying.

Terrorists are willing to use the life of a child to achieve their goal.

Here is how Palestinian children are used as human shields. These kids surround the man firing a gun at Israeli soldiers. If the soldiers retaliate, they risk injuring or killing the children. Of course, the media will blame Israel. This tactic has been used regularly by the Palestinian Authority and by other terrorists for years.
